30 Days of Dissociative Identity Disorder: Day 05
My queue is almost empty and I'm hitting burnout. This week's question is from CatalyticConvergence's page, as usual.
How often do you switch? How often do you lose time? Talk a little about what dissociation is like for you.
Ray here! I've been frontstuck these past few days, haven't really been switching out lately.
We switch anywheres from 3 times per day to sometimes once a week. If we aren't communicating with each other, we will technically lose time then, and whoever switched in will be fronting without context. That happened when we had our replacement tooth come in. Literally that evening, I switched in for the first time in three years, and was shocked that one of our teeth just felt Like That (it's porcelain for realism, but they had to smooth it down so the front half wasn't sharp like a molar should be). I didn't even know we had the real thing pulled. It's just things like that where if you don't front for a long time, you literally feel like your life is just passing you by. And that sucks.
That part of dissociation sucks. Also, I don't feel as short as I used to, and my phantom body (as opposed to phantom limbs, since my hands and feet are connected by an invisible force in headspace) feels taller and more mature.
Which begs the question, how the fuck has our body just had phantom sensations for a body it has never physically lived in? How the fuck does this work? Who asked?
Why?
